The story was created by François Truffaut, and directed by Jean Luc Godard. For me, this film and its production are simply brilliant…
Looking for inspiration is not an easy task.
Before starting the brand my main inspirations came from my dreams – the actual ones, when we are asleep. Quite often I would wake up with wonderful patterns, shapes and campaign scenarios on my mind. But that was back then, before I decided to dive into fashion. Now my dreams are about everything but fashion – maybe Freud could explain!
During my constant lookout for something antique but fresh, classic but not overworked, I started challenging myself to go beyond my comfort zone. Meeting new people, going out to places I usually wouldn’t go, and also going back to the root of our inspirations: literature, music and researching about history of fashion and cinema.
My dreams and my feelings kept bringing me back to 1960’s France, the colors, the shapes, the moment in history. So here is a short list of my favorite nouvelle vague movies that somehow inspired my muse and my brand.
Happiness – Agnes Varda(1965)
This melancholic story has a certain beauty. In this movie, Agnès Varda pictures a man who decides to do what makes him happy. The film begins with a scene by the countryside – which we love, as you can see.
Fahrenheit 451 – François Truffaut(1966)
The futuristic decor and the leather costumes are unforgettable. Being an adaptation of Ray Bradbury’s novel, Truffaut’s film is so well produced, it is courageous and deep.
Contempt – Jean-Luc Godard(1963)
This masterpiece by Jean-Luc Godard is a drama about a couple’s crisis. This film pays true homage to cinema. I especially like the beauty of the images and colors and … Capri! And of course we can’t forget Brigitte Bardot, always an inspiration! In fact, she is also the muse to our next collab…
Next week we will be launching our newest collab with French influencer – uh la la – inspired by Bardot and her easy chic style! Carefully handmade to order, with love and the utmost quality! I can’t wait to show you more!
